Naketha
Mattocks – “Inside Pitch” - Saturday,
May 14, 2011, 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Naketha Mattocks, producer, and former head of development at Larger
Than Life, the production company of Oscar nominated writer/director
Gary Ross (HUNGER GAMES, SEABISCUIT, PLEASANTVILLE) and producer Allison
Thomas (TALE OF DESPEREAUX, SEABISCUIT).
Prior to joining Larger Than Life, Naketha was an executive at Paramount
Pictures where she oversaw the development and production of films
that include CHARLOTTE’S WEB, GET RICH OR DIE TRYIN’,
ELIZABETHTOWN and COACH CARTER.
Prior to Paramount Pictures, Naketha was the VP of Development at
Baltimore/Spring Creek Pictures, the partnership between Oscar winning
director Barry Levinson (YOU DON'T KNOW JACK, WAG THE DOG, RAINMAN)
and Emmy Winning producer Paula Weinstein (RECOUNT, BLOOD DIAMOND,
PERFECT STORM).
Naketha started her career in long-form television at Patchett-Kaufman
Entertainment and was a reader for the Sundance Screenwriters Lab.
Her first industry job was as a Human Resources Coordinator at CBS
Television City. She graduated from Emerson College.

Ron
Osborn – “It’s Alive: Breathing Life into
Your Characters” - 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m
.
A writer/producer with partner Jeff Reno, Ron started out in half-hour
sitcom and then went to hour-long comedy for three seasons on Moonlighting
where he was nominated for 4 Emmys, a Humanitas, and a Writers Guild
Award. Other hour-long shows include Cupid and The West
Wing, where he was nominated for his second Writers Guild Award.
He has done numerous feature rewrites, including The Flintstones,
and feature originals such as Meet Joe Black. His spec solo
feature Visitation has been optioned and he has just adapted
the supernatural novel The Elementals for The Orphanage. His favorite
job in 27 years of writing was as co-creator, head writer and executive
producer on 70 episodes of the animated show Duckman, starring
Jason Alexander, which was nominated for 2 Emmys and 3 Cable Ace awards.
Ron received
the Big Island Film Festival Golden Honu Award for Screenwriting in
2009 and has been a cherished member of the BIFF Ohana ever since.
